Paperwork

One of the great things about being Test Lead is all the paperwork associated with the position (can you sense my sarcasm?). I've spent most of the last week working on test plans and test schedules. Since I have never enjoyed paperwork this is especially painful.

In creating a test plan I have really come to appreciate one book in particular and basically use it as my test plan and preparation bible. Systematic Software Testing by Rick D. Craig and Stefan P. Jaskiel is an excellent book for a good overview of the testing process, creation of test documents, test team dynamics, test philosophy, etc. I particularly like the section devoted to risk assessment and prioritization of tests.

I feel like a Reading Rainbow commercial (wasn't that a great TV program?), but you really should pick up a copy of this book.
